Main Answer
Isaiah 53:5 places healing inside the work of the suffering servant who is wounded for transgressions and bruised for iniquities. The verse’s central concern is the servant bearing sin and bringing peace through His suffering.
Christians understand the suffering servant through Jesus Christ and the cross. The deepest healing in the passage is reconciliation with God, where sin and guilt are dealt with through Christ’s saving work.
This gives a foundation for final restoration, including the Christian hope that suffering and death will not have the last word. It should not be turned into a guarantee that every physical illness must disappear immediately in the present age.
Prayer for physical healing remains appropriate, but Isaiah 53 should be read in its whole argument rather than isolated as a promise that faithful Christians cannot remain sick.
