Main Answer
Romans 8:18 does not mean present suffering is unimportant. Paul compares present suffering with future glory to give believers hope and proportion, not to deny the weight of what they are carrying now.
The surrounding passage describes creation groaning and believers groaning as they wait for redemption. Paul treats suffering as real enough to make the whole creation long for renewal.
Future glory changes the horizon. Christian hope says present pain is not the final chapter and will not outweigh what God will reveal.
The verse becomes harmful when it is used to silence grief or avoid practical care. Paul can speak about future glory while acknowledging present groaning.
