Do Good People Go to Hell?

The Short Answer

The Bible teaches that every person is a sinner and that salvation is given by God’s grace through Christ. A person’s reputation as good cannot create a separate path into eternal life.

Many people do real good in the world, and Scripture can recognise good actions as genuinely good. The question of salvation reaches deeper than a comparison with other people. Romans 3 places humanity under sin and directs hope toward the righteousness God provides through faith in Jesus Christ.

Final judgment belongs to God. Christian teaching therefore calls every person toward repentance and faith rather than toward confidence in being morally better than someone else.

Why Moral Comparison Cannot Carry the Weight of Salvation

People usually call someone good by comparing their life with ordinary human standards. Scripture asks what life looks like before a holy God and then presents grace as the answer to human sin.

This does not make good actions worthless. It places them in their proper role. Christians are called to good works as the fruit of a life received from God.
