The Short Answer
The Bible never mentions cigarettes, tobacco or vaping. Smoking therefore has to be considered through broader Christian principles such as self-control and responsibility toward other people.
Nicotine dependence can make the issue morally serious because a habit may begin to master the person. Smoking can also affect people nearby and consume money needed for other responsibilities.
The fact that someone smokes does not give a human observer enough information to declare their eternal destiny. A Christian who believes the habit needs to change can bring it into repentance and seek practical help without treating difficulty quitting as proof that God has abandoned them.
Smoking Is an Applied Moral Question
First Corinthians 6:12 provides a useful principle when Paul refuses to be mastered by anything. The same chapter also reminds Christians that the body belongs to Christ.
Those texts should be applied with care. Scripture gives no direct tobacco command, so the strength of the conclusion depends on the actual pattern of dependence and harm.
The moral case becomes stronger as the habit begins to dominate choices or harm people around the smoker. That is why two smoking situations can carry different weight. Christian ethics can take nicotine seriously without pretending Scripture contains a direct tobacco rule.
Someone trying to quit can also expect the process to involve setbacks. A failed attempt does not make change pointless. It can reveal which triggers or routines need a stronger response. Grace gives room to keep pursuing freedom while taking the habit seriously.
