The Short Answer
A lack of prayer is spiritually important, yet Scripture does not present salvation as a prayer quota where missing a day or season automatically determines eternal destiny. Final judgment belongs to God, who knows the whole life and the reality of a person’s relationship with Him.
Prayer is a normal expression of Christian faith. Jesus teaches His disciples to pray, and the New Testament repeatedly encourages believers to continue in prayer. A long period without prayer can therefore reveal distance, distraction or discouragement that deserves attention.
The way back can begin with a very small prayer. You can tell God that prayer has become difficult and ask for help. The point is renewed relationship with God through honest prayer.
Prayer Is Relationship, Not a Scorecard
Jesus gives His disciples a pattern of prayer in Matthew 6. Paul tells Christians to continue steadfastly in prayer. These passages make prayer a normal part of faith without creating a numerical rule for daily minutes or sentences.
People stop praying for many reasons. Shame can make someone avoid God after sin. Grief can make prayer feel empty. Exhaustion and depression can also reduce concentration. The cause affects the kind of help that is needed.
A simple return is enough to start. The tax collector in Luke 18 uses only a brief plea for mercy. Honest prayer can be short while still expressing real dependence on God.
